How We Work

Clinic Policies & Fees

Clear expectations help us care for you well. These policies apply at all Kira Health clinics. Effective October 1, 2026.

💊 Prescription Refills

Refill requests take up to 3 business days to complete. This is not an administrative delay — every refill is reviewed against your chart by a physician before it is authorized, because safe prescribing requires it.

  • Fastest route: ask your pharmacy to fax us the request — no charge, completed within 3 business days.
  • Urgent or complex medications: book an available appointment. Urgent refills are handled as visits, not phone requests.
  • Some medications — including controlled substances and certain mental health medications — always require an appointment.

Please check your medications about a week before they run out.

🤝 Respect for Our Team

Our staff treat every patient with courtesy, and we expect the same in return. Abusive language, shouting, threats, or profanity — in person, by phone, or in messages — are not acceptable.

  • Staff will end any call or interaction where this occurs.
  • Messages containing abusive language will not receive a direct reply. The clinical concern itself will still be addressed through proper channels.
  • Repeated disrespectful behaviour may result in discharge from the practice, in accordance with College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta standards.

If you have a medical emergency, call 911.

📅 Missed Appointments

Your appointment time is reserved for you. If you cannot attend, please give us at least 24 hours' notice so another patient can be seen.

  • Missed appointment with less than 24 hours' notice: $75
  • Missed extended or procedure appointment: $150
  • Repeated no-shows may affect your ability to pre-book appointments.

🔬 Test Results

We will contact you if your results need follow-up. However, please don't assume that no news is good news — you are always welcome to book a results appointment or call to confirm your results have been reviewed.

📝 Forms, Letters & Notes

Forms, insurance paperwork, letters, and notes are not covered by Alberta Health and carry a fee, payable before completion. Please allow up to 7 business days. Sick notes require an appointment. Common fees are listed below.
